Discover advanced diagnostic capabilities for your pet with our comprehensive endoscopy services.
Our veterinary hospital is one of the few in Sudbury to offer endoscopy services. Endoscopy is a less invasive procedure that allows us to examine your pet’s internal organs and perform some procedures, sometimes in place of surgery. Avoiding invasive surgery increases your pet’s recovery time.
Endoscopy uses an endoscope, a small device with a flexible tube connected to a camera, which magnifies your pet’s internal organs and systems. The images are displayed on a TV monitor for us to examine. The endoscope enters your pet’s body through openings like their mouth, rectum, ear and nose or through a small incision. Our surgical tools are also able to enter these same openings during your pet’s procedure. After the procedure, you’re able to request the video imaging for your personal records.
In addition to being a diagnostic tool, endoscopy can be used to remove foreign objects and masses. It can also be used to perform biopsies, where samples are taken of tissue in the ear, nose, mouth, esophagus, stomach and colon, and bladder. To prepare your pet for an endoscopy, particularly if it’s performed on the stomach or intestinal tract, your pet should fast for at least 12 hours before the procedure. If you have questions about your pet’s upcoming endoscopy, please contact us at 705-522-4555.
